Ho! Ho! Ho! And a Merry SCI

Ho! Ho! Ho! And a Merry SCI

Well my friends, I want to let you know that paralysis has not failed me this year either.

I'm back in the hospital with a new gift from spinal cord injury, an infected pressure sore. Never though I'd get such a bad pressure sore as I try to take care of such things, but I guess spinal cord injury wanted to make sure that I tasted as many secondary issues as possible.

There are some, who after a disability injury or illness, talk about how it has made them a better person. Well, there's nothing I can do except believe what they have to say and keep waiting for it to make me a better person, too.

While I'm waiting for that better person to explode from my loins, I'd like to list up what SCI has brought me for Christmas.

Christmas 2009: at the rehab hospital after I was left crippled from a bleed in my spinal cord.

Christmas 2010: luckily I made it out before Christmas that year even though I had a second operation for an arachnoid cyst.

Christmas 2011: at the rehab hospital after an operation for syringomyelia.

Christmas 2012: my kids got to enjoy having their father around for the second Christmas since paralysis.

Christmas 2013: the kids thought I'd definitely be home for the holidays, but unlucky us. My new infected pressure sore will keep in the hospital over the holidays.

I know that there are those who've had it worse, but the point is to make sure this horror doesn't happen to others, and not compete about who's had it worse. It's a terrible thing regardless of how you slice or dice it.

So, let's stop talking about how SCI can make us better. Let's make others understand how SCI robs not only our lives but the lives of those around us. Let's hope for future Christmases without paralysis.

  1. What do you expect when you are based on a website like carecure which serves people craving hope whether it be false or not.

Hey you could chose what you want but don't expect the miracle from there. As said by the administrator there, that was the easy part. here is more garbage fed to esquire about that administrator you hang on to-Fate seems to have designed Young to become a medical ambassador. Born in 1950 in Hong Kong, the son of an innovative Chinese businessman who built the first mall in Hong Kong, he grew up in Japan and attended the American School with the kids of international businessmen and diplomats. He decided to be a doctor when he was eight. But his father expected his sons to come work for him. "Why do you want to be a doctor?" he said. "If you want to help people, come work for me and you can hire ten doctors."

Dogged but never confrontational, Young stood his ground. Soon his father took him aside and told him he was too honest looking to be a proper businessman. "People can read your face. You can do what you want." He ended up at Reed College in Oregon right at the peak of the 1960s, worlds away from the rigid culture of his childhood.

    Self promoting to the utmost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. You gotta wonder, does the manipulation end at the magazine interview or is it carried into the clinical trials also.

  3. Dennis, you are very concerned about money going to a real cure effort yet you haven't questioned the use of the justadollarplease funds which a great portion was spent 2 summers ago to apply for fda trial approval even before the results from china were in and were to be the basis of the fda per-requisite. Also there was not one trial investigator signed up for the trial to train. And it was said this pre trial work was supposed to be volunteer work and part time grad student. Oh and what about all those intentional leaks of people walking to raise funding. Dennis it's true you have a dilemma, if you pursue the above and call attention to it, you will lose your platform. But, if you don't it lets shady science prevail, imagine cord blood and lithium is hailed as the second approved treatment for sci only to follow in the footsteps of the first treatment methylprednisolone.

  6. At the rate CareCure is going downhill Dennis may be forced to either look for another place to get his message out anyway. Do you think Wise finally realized his quotes could be harmful so he sabotaged his website so they are no longer searchable? I mean do you think vBulletin doesn't know how to get it up and running? This has been going on for months!

    1. He's been banned from posting on all the sci forums so he's trying to turn Dennis's blog spot into HIS platform to whine and bitch about Wise. (Trolls don't recognize their own deceit and ulterior motives).

    2. The troll is the first to call the kettle black, that's for sure. What a HYPOCRITE !!!!!!!!!!!!

A person who engages in the same behaviors he condemns others for.
A person who professes certain ideals, but fails to live up to them.
A person who holds other people to higher standards than he holds himself.

The only reliable product of a mentally sick troll like Bigbob is that he's alone in thinking that only *his* hypocrisy is divinely sanctioned. His loneliness is self imposed.

  8. Hypocrite is right. The troll comes here to criticize Dennis for where he posts information and yet the hypocrite troll comes here to this blog to criticize Wise Young and his forum. You can't get more hypocritical than that. He DOESN'T live to same standard he holds Dennis to. He tries to manipulate other's but he's made a terrible fool of himself.

  9. big difference
Dennis doesn't criticize Wise which is the problem.
I think he refrained from doing so, so he could set up shop on carecure.

  10. NO... Dennis isn't out to exterminate Wise like you are troll. THAT'S the difference and why you've been banned off all the SCI forums on the internet. Trolls set up shop to whine and cry about no cure and find fault with researchers and organizations in order to kill every effort related to a cure. Trolls set up shop in comment sections because they're banned and nothing more than lazy vile nuisance's. That's also why their comments are deleted and blocked from sci blogs.
